JOB DUTIES – You will be a team player working within a small team and will report to the shop manager. You will be responsible for erecting and dismantling tents and caravan awnings on the showground and for maintaining the display in a clean and tidy condition. This is most important as the showground is, in effect, our shop window so an eye for detail is essential.

You will also assist in unloading deliveries of tents and accessories and you will ensure that the shop is clean and well stocked at all times. Some of your duties will involve assisting customers with their enquiries and helping them to carry their purchases to their vehicles. The position will be working mainly outdoors and will involve some heavy lifting.

ABOUT US - WM Camping Ltd. is a leading independent supplier of top quality Family Camping equipment at competitive prices. We are based at Wealden Forest Park, Herne Common, midway between Canterbury and Herne Bay in Kent. We have an extensive tent and awning showground with up to 50 models on display during the summer season plus a well-stocked camping accessory shop. We also have an important e-commerce website selling nationwide.

ABOUT YOU – The ideal candidate will be able to integrate quickly within the team and will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with customers and other members of the team. Camping experience is valuable but in order to maintain our high standard of merchandising, training in tent display will be given. You will have a flexible approach to working hours and be capable of working without supervision at times. A love of the outdoors would be an advantage.

SALARY –  £10 per hour.

BENEFITS – Contributory pension scheme if you qualify, generous staff discounts. 28 days annual leave (pro rata) to be taken at the end of the contract.

HOURS – Variable but ideally around 34 per week, 9.30am to 5pm Mondays to Fridays, 9am to 5pm on Saturdays and 10am to 4pm on Sundays with half an hour for lunch. You will be paid for actual hours worked. Days off variable by mutual consent but must work weekends and Bank Holidays as these are the busiest days.
