Vango AirBeam Tents Collection – Inflatable tents for quick and easy pitching, perfect for camping trips.

Vango AirBeam Tents

Vango AirBeam technology represents one of the most significant developments in modern camping equipment. If you have not come across it before, AirBeam tents replace traditional metal or fibreglass poles with inflatable beams that are pumped up to create the tent’s structure.

First introduced by Vango in 2011, AirBeam has become widely used among family campers thanks to its straightforward pitching and reliable design. Over the years the range has expanded considerably, with models now available for small two-person tents through to large eight-person family tents.

One of the main advantages of AirBeam tents is the speed of pitching. Even large family tents can often be set up in around ten minutes, which helps reduce the effort usually involved in putting up bigger tents.

Alongside their tents, Vango have also developed a range of AirBeam awnings suitable for campervans, motorhomes and caravans.

Vango AirBeam Tents at WM Camping

Vango AirBeam tents use inflatable beams instead of pole sections to create the tent structure. The beams are inflated using a pump (supplied) and form a rigid frame once pressurised, holding the tent shape securely.

This pitching process reduces pitching time, especially on larger tents, and removes the need to thread poles through sleeves. It can also make setup easier when pitching alone or in poor weather conditions.

Vango has been developing AirBeam technology since 2011, and it’s now used across a wide range of tent sizes and layouts.

How Easy Are AirBeam Tents to Pitch?

Most AirBeam tents follow a simple process:

  1. Peg out the 4 corners
  2. Inflate the beams using the pump provided
  3. Peg out the rest of the tent and secure guy lines

Once you’re familiar with the process, pitching is quicker than assembling pole sections, particularly on larger family tents. Many campers also find packing away more straightforward once they’ve done it a few times.

Are AirBeam Tents Strong and Reliable?

A common question with inflatable tents is durability. AirBeam structures are designed to be strong once inflated, with multiple air tubes that help maintain stability. Because the beams flex slightly in wind rather than remaining rigid like poles, they can perform well in changeable conditions.

Repair kits are also supplied with tents, and individual beams can be replaced if needed, which provides reassurance for long-term use.

Choosing the Right Size AirBeam Tent

AirBeam tents are available in sizes suitable for couples through to large family groups. Couples often choose a 3- or 4-person model to gain extra living space, while families benefit from larger tents with separate bedrooms and standing height living areas.

If you already know the size you need, you can browse our Vango 4 Man Tents or Vango 6 Man Tents collections to compare inflatable options within those categories.

Vango AirBeam Tent Fabrics

The fabric used affects durability, waterproof performance, and overall weight. Vango uses several materials across its AirBeam range.

Sentinel Fabric

Sentinel Fabric balances durability with manageable pack size and weight. With a 4,000mm waterproof rating and ColourLok Eco technology, it offers dependable weather protection while remaining relatively lightweight. This fabric is used on models such as the Savannah Air, Tacoma Air, and Sierra Air ranges.

Sentinel Excel Fabric

Sentinel Excel is a heavier 150D embossed fabric designed for increased strength and durability. It features a 5,000mm waterproof rating and ColourLok technology, making it suitable for campers who want something more robust without moving to polycotton. This fabric is used on models such as the Sherwood Air range.

Sentinel Elite Fabric

Sentinel Elite is one of the strongest fabrics used in Vango tents, testing at more than double the strength of standard flysheet materials. With a 5,000mm waterproof rating, it’s designed for frequent use and more demanding conditions. Models include the Anantara Air range.

Sentinel Elite TC Fabric

Sentinel Elite TC is a polycotton fabric combining polyester and cotton fibres. This creates a more breathable material that can help reduce condensation and improve comfort, particularly in warmer weather or during longer stays. It also has a premium feel and strong durability. This fabric is used on the Anantara TC Air models.

Why Choose an AirBeam Tent?

Many campers choose inflatable tents because they offer:

  • Faster pitching, particularly on larger tents
  • Fewer components compared to pole frames
  • A structure that can be easier to manage solo
  • Strong stability once fully inflated
  • Spacious layouts suited to family camping

For regular campers or families, these advantages can make a noticeable difference over time.

Are AirBeam tents good in the wind?

Yes, AirBeam tents are designed to withstand windy conditions. The inflatable beams create a stable structure that can flex and absorb wind pressure, helping to keep the tent anchored. However, it’s still important to secure the tent properly with guylines and pegs, and to use common sense when it is really windy.

Can I deflate and pack the tent quickly?

Yes, simply open the AirSpeed valves, and the beams deflate in seconds for a fast pack-down.

What is the warranty on Vango AirBeam tents?

All Vango products have a 2 year warranty against manufacturing faults which can be extended to three years by registering the tent on their website.
