Should I choose an inflatable or poled tent?
Choose an inflatable tent if you want a quick and easy setup. They are a great choice for family camping, can often be pitched by one person and use flexible air beams that perform well in windy weather.
Choose a poled tent if you want a cheaper or lighter option. They are often better for hiking and backpacking, and the poles are usually simple to repair or replace if they become damaged.
Pack size and weight
If you are short on storage space, travelling in a smaller car or going to festivals, check the packed size and weight before buying.
Do You Need a Tent Footprint?
A footprint is a protective groundsheet that sits underneath your tent. It helps protect the base of your tent from stones, mud and general wear, while also making packing away cleaner and easier.
Footprints are especially useful for larger family tents and inflatable tents, as they help extend the life of your tent and mark out your pitching area before you set up.

What size tent should I buy?
Consider both sleeping capacity and the amount of living and storage space you need. Many couples choose a 3 or 4 man tent, while families often move up a size for extra comfort.
What waterproof rating is suitable for UK camping?
Most quality tents with a hydrostatic-head rating of 3,000mm or above are suitable for normal UK camping conditions.
