  • Recommended kit by the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

The Vango Omega 250 is a 2 man backpacking tent designed for backpackers who carry more kit and spend longer out in the elements. Its tunnel construction creates a surprisingly spacious interior for a 2-man tent, while keeping pitching quick and weight manageable. The standout feature is the extra-large porch, supported by an additional pole, giving you valuable storage space for rucksacks, wet clothing and cooking gear.

Whether you’re heading out on a multi-day hike, a DofE expedition or a challenging campsite pitch, the Omega 250 delivers a reassuring balance of durability, comfort and practicality.

Flysheet & Waterproofing

The Vango Omega 250 Tent uses ProTex® Eco Ripstop fabric, made from recycled single-use plastics without sacrificing performance. With a 3000mm hydrostatic head and fully taped seams, it provides dependable protection from prolonged rain while remaining tough enough for repeated use.

Flysheet benefits include:

  • ProTex® Eco Ripstop – durable, waterproof and environmentally conscious

  • 3000mm HH rating – ideal for wet UK conditions

  • Fully taped seams – reliable, watertight protection

  • Diamond Clear windows – bright, airy feel inside

Mesh-covered vents at each end encourage airflow, reducing condensation on long, damp nights.

Inner Tent & Groundsheet Protection

Inside, the Vango Omega 250 Tent focuses on comfort after a hard day on the trail. The breathable polyester inner and mesh panels improve ventilation while keeping insects out. The bathtub-style groundsheet rises 10cm up the inner, offering extra reassurance in heavy rain or saturated ground.

Inner tent features:

  • Breathable inner fabric – reduces condensation

  • Partial mesh doors – airflow without bugs

  • Bathtub groundsheet – keeps water out in harsh weather

  • 6000mm HH groundsheet – tough, waterproof and easy to clean

Internal storage pockets keep essentials close at hand when space matters.

Structure, Stability & Ease of Pitching

Built to handle changeable weather, the Vango Omega 250 Tent uses PowerLite alloy poles made from 7001-T6 aluminium, offering excellent strength-to-weight performance. Colour-coded poles and all-in-one pitching make setup straightforward, even in poor conditions.

Stability features include:

  • TBSII Tension Band System – braces the tent against strong winds

  • High-visibility reflective guylines – safer in low light

  • High-grip guyline adjusters – easy, one-handed tensioning

  • Lightweight alloy pegs – strong and dependable

Dual side doors improve access and create a more usable living space on longer trips.

Size, Weight & Practical Storage

Despite its robust build, the Vango Omega 250 Tent packs down neatly and remains manageable for backpacking and group use. The Fast Pack tent bag with compression straps makes packing away quicker at the end of a long day.
