FAQs

Frequently asked questions

How many people does the tent sleep?

The tent is rated as a three-person model. For extra comfort and storage space, some campers may find it more suitable for two people.

What is the weight and packed size?

The total weight is approximately 4.02kg, with a packed size of around 63 × 18cm, making it easy to transport and store.

Is the tent waterproof?

Yes, the flysheet is made from Vango Protex® 70D polyester with a 3,000mm hydrostatic head rating and factory-taped seams to help keep water out. It is suitable for typical wet UK weather, although extreme conditions should always be avoided.

Does it have a porch and groundsheet?

Yes, the tent includes a front porch area with a built-in waterproof polyethylene groundsheet, providing space for boots or equipment storage.

Pitching & Setup

How long does it take to pitch?

The Tay 300 is designed for quick pitching and can usually be set up in under 10 minutes once you are familiar with it.

What is the pitching order?

The tent uses an inner-first pitching design. The basic steps are:

  1. Peg out the inner tent corners.

  2. Assemble the fibreglass poles and thread them through the sleeves.

  3. Insert the pole ends into the metal pins to form the structure.

  4. Place the flysheet over the frame and attach it to the poles.

  5. Insert the porch pole and peg out the porch and guylines for tension.

Are the poles colour-coded?

Yes, the PowerFlex fibreglass poles and sleeves are colour-coded to make pitching easier.

Care & Maintenance

How should I clean the tent?

Clean using warm water and a soft sponge or cloth. Avoid washing machines, detergents, or bleach. Specialist tent cleaners can be used if needed. Always allow the tent to dry fully before packing it away.

How can I reduce condensation?

Condensation can be managed by maintaining airflow. Use the ventilation points provided and avoid blocking vents where possible. The breathable inner fabric also helps moisture pass through.

Do I need to reproof the tent over time?

Yes, the waterproof coating may wear with use. Reproofing the flysheet every 12–24 months is recommended depending on how often the tent is used. Seam sealant can also be applied if seam tape begins to lift.

What should I do if a pole breaks?

Replacement poles are available from Vango retailers and spare-parts suppliers. Individual sections or complete pole sets can usually be purchased if needed.
