What Makes Vango AirBeam Tents Great

How to use Vango's AirSpeed Valve Blog

Vango AirSpeed Valve

Vango’s AirSpeed Valves make pitching and packing away an AirBeam tent quicker and easier. Unlike older valve systems, there’s no need to screw or unscrew a cap like on a boston valve, so inflation and deflation are more straightforward and reliable. The valve is also positioned in a more accessible place on the tent, so you don’t have to bend all the way down, making it easier to attach the pump and release the air when it is time to pack away. It is a small detail, but one that makes a massive difference when you want to get your tent ready with less fuss.

High Quality Canvas

Vango’s AirBeam tents use different canvases to suit the way you camp.

Sentinel Fabric is a lighter option, making it a good choice when pack size and weight matter, while still giving dependable weather protection with a 4,000mm hydrostatic head rating. It also includes ColourLok Eco technology to help the fabric keep its colour for longer.

For campers wanting a stronger feel, Vango's Sentinel Excel uses a more robust 150D embossed fabric with a 5,000mm hydrostatic head rating and ColourLok technology, giving added durability and reliable protection in changeable weather.

Good range of sizes and layouts

Vango makes AirBeam tents for couples, families and larger groups, from compact weekend tents through to large 6-man and 8-man models. This makes it easier to choose a tent that suits the type of camping trip, rather than having to compromise on layout or space.

Vango AirBeam Tents at WM Camping

Vango AirBeam tents mark a clear shift from traditional pole-based designs. Instead of rigid metal or fibreglass poles, they use inflatable beams to create the structure of the tent. These beams sit inside durable sleeves and are inflated using a supplied pump, forming a strong and stable frame without the need for separate poles.

This design makes pitching far quicker and easier. With the beams pre-attached, setup typically takes around 10–20 minutes and can often be done by one person.

AirBeam technology has been thoroughly developed and tested by Vango, offering a solid framework that performs well in poor weather. The beams are designed to flex rather than snap under pressure, and each one is separate, so a puncture won’t affect the entire tent. Repairs are simple, with access via zipped sleeves and included repair kits.

Alongside the AirBeam system, Vango tents include features such as their Tension Band System for added stability, controlled ventilation to manage airflow, and darker inner bedrooms to reduce early morning light. Sewn-in groundsheets and well-placed guylines further improve comfort and weather protection.

Overall, Vango AirBeam tents offer a simpler pitching process, reduced weight, and dependable performance compared to traditional pole tents.
